Change of plan...

So, after considering our situation long and hard, Glen and I decided to leave the orphanage. We said our goodbyes and packed our bags on Thursday and are heading towards Arusha tomorrow, spending four days on a safari in between.

No drama, all is well with us and we left in good terms. I'll explain our reasons later. We are still going to keep in touch with people at Hands of Mercy and help them with some projects in the future.

This is our last day in Mwanza.

Last night in Nairobi/Viimeinen ilta Nairobissa

Tonight is our last night in Nairobi. Our bus to Mwanza leaves at 9.30pm tomorrow evening and we arrive to Mwanza around 11.00am the next morning. Over 12 hours in a bus, I'm not looking forward to it.

Met up with an old Finnish colleague and his girlfriend today, reminded me of how small the world really is. Thank you J & K for a lovely day!

I'm not sure when I get to update the blog next time, hopefully within the next week or so. In the mean time, take care!

*****

Viimeinen ilta Nairobissa. Bussi Mwanzaan lahtee huomenna 21.30 ja saavumme perille seuraavana aamuna 11.00. Yli 12 tuntia bussissa, jostain syysta en odota kokemusta innosta piukeana.

Vietimme taman paivan vanhan tyokaverini ja hanen tyttoystavansa kanssa. En ollut nahnyt J:ta yli kolmeen vuoteen mutta niinpa vain satuimme samaan aikaan Nairobiin. Pieni maailma muistutti taas itsestaan. Kiitos hyvasta seurasta J & K.

En tieda milloin paasen seuraavan kerran paivittamaan blogia, toivottavasti kuitenkin viikon parin sisalla viimeistaan. Tansania kutsuu...

Kissing Miss Daisy

So, this is what we did today...

Miss Daisy had the softest lips...

Heratys prinsessakatoksessa

Herasin tana aamuna puoli kuudelta prinsessakatoksessa (tarkemmin sanottuna hyttysverkkojen alla). Uni vei meidat jo puoli yhdeksalta edellisena iltana, joten yhdeksan tunnin younien jalkeen olo on suhteellisen virkea.

Aamiaispoydassa meille piti seuraa Etela-Afrikkalainen Lontoossa asuva tytto, joka on Nairobissa tyomatkalla.

Tanaan ohjelmassa norsuja, sarvikuonoja ja kirahveja.

Piece of heaven

So, we said goodbye to Melbourne yesterday. There were 14 people at the airport sending us off and it was the most difficult departure I've ever experienced. Australia is home as much as Finland now and leaving home is never easy.

Our flight to Bangkok was practically empty, and for that reason quite enjoyable. And I believe for the same reason the person who checked in our luggage allowed us 10 extra kilos on top of the 50 we were allowed.

We arrived to our Nairobi digs, Miti Mingi Guest House, about an hour ago. After reading so many stories about the dangers of Nairobi, this place seems like a piece of heaven. Our hostess is originally from Holland but has chosen Nairobi as her home and I can't blame her. I'll post some photos once the hubby gets his camera out.

Just got the warning the power is out, so must go now. Talk to you soon.

Loppurutistus

Huh. Herasin sitten tanaan viiden aikaan, hieman tuo muutto taitaa pyoria ajatuksissa. Otin aikaisesta aamusta kaiken irti ja kavin ihanaisella aamu-uinnilla ehka viimeista kertaa. Tosin altaassakin tuli lahinna mietittya sita, etta mita pitaa viela pakata ja mihin laatikkoon mikakin esine sopisi.

Tanaan pitaisi sitten vihdoin pakata se rinkka, sulkea viimisetkin laatikot, laatia rahtitavarasta sisallysluettelo ja tehda lomake asunnon kuntotarkastusta varten. Jesh...

Asunnon luovutus huomenna viidelta illalla.

The box heaven

We have been packing non-stop for four days now and somehow there is still more stuff to be packed. I had completely forgotten how much I hate moving.

Not too many days to go now, we are officially homeless from Wednesday night onwards. Still not sure what to think about it.
